The next Unit Commanders’ Course will be held in Chesterfield, MO on 9-10 June 2018.
The UCC will be held at Aero Charter, 501 Turbine Ave, Chesterfield, MO 63005. This facility is on Spirit of St. Louis (SUS) airport property.
The UCC is Civil Air Patrol’s primary course for senior members who wish to gain a better understanding of leadership in CAP, as well as an introductory course for new and aspiring commanders. In 2016, the UCC was completely renovated with the goal of building a cadre of well-trained officers who are prepared to lead and manage at the, most important, squadron level. Because it has recently been so profoundly changed, this UCC is also a great “refresher” class for even the most experienced commanders.
The new version was introduced in early 2017 and the Missouri was among the very first wings to introduce UCC in the new format. One of the principal architects of this new UCC is our wing commander, Col John O’Neill, who will be the director as well as lead instructor for this course.
The students’ prerequisites for UCC are to be a senior member in CAP and are encouraged to have completed level 2 in the CAP senior members’ professional development program.
UCC is now in blended format. This means students will be given written assignments to be submitted prior to the start of class in June. Because these assignments must be completed prior to the class, “walk-in” students cannot be accepted for credit.
Members interested in attending this UCC should register by submitting a CAPF 17 to the course coordinator, Maj Peter Danza (firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than Saturday, 02 June 2018. I’ve attached a CAPF 17 for your convenience. We only need items 4-10 filled. MOWG members will not require a commander signature to enroll. Students from other wings will be responsible for procuring approval as required by their wings. I’ve also attached CAPF 161, Emergency Information. Members should carry their 161 during all CAP activities.
More complete information and pre-course assignments will be sent to student applicants in late May.
