SENIOR MASTER SERGEANT ROBERT A. MILLER
Civil Air Patrol Missouri Wing Command NCO Bob Miller joined the Wentzville Composite Squadron (WCS) in January 2012 where he was assigned Administration and Personnel Officer duties. Additional duties included Squadron Professional Development, Finance, Historian, and Deputy Commander for Seniors, plus MOWG Director of Administration. Current duty assignments are MOWG Command NCO, Group 2 NCO, Squadron NCO, WCS Administration, and WCS Personnel. He also provides Inspection Augmentation (IA) for Inspector General Subordinate Unit Inspections. In May 2018, Bob was appointed MOWG Command NCO.
SMSgt Miller began his military carrier in April 1966 as a United States Marine and is a Vietnam Veteran. His Marine Corps personal decorations include the Achievement Metal (w/”V” Combat device), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal, National Defense Service Metal (w/device), Vietnam Service Medal (w/devices for six RVN Campaign activities), Vietnam Campaign Metal (w/ 67-68 device.) and other unit awards for service in the Republic of Vietnam.
In 1985, he joined the Missouri Air National Guard as an F-4 Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) Technician. Following activation after 9/11 (including 5 years as an Activated Guard Reservist), Bob ended his military career as an Information Resources Manager. Personal USAF awards earned include Meritorious Service, two Commendation Medals, Achievement Medal, Longevity Service Ribbon (w/4 Oak Leaf devices), Arm Forces Expeditionary Medal, NATO Service Ribbon (Kosovo), plus several unit and personal awards.
SMSgt Miller’s Civil Air Patrol personal awards include two Commander’s Commendations, three Achievement Awards, General “Chuck” Yeager Aerospace Education Achievement Award,and several other MO Wing, unit and personal awards. He has completed Level 5 of the Senior Member Professional Development program, being awarded the Gill Robb Wilson Award, and holds Specialty Track ratings of “Master” for Administration, Historian, Personnel, Professional Development, and “Technician” ratings for Cadet Programs, Finance, and Inspector General.
Bob met Sue, his wife of over 51 years, on her 16th birthday. They married in Feb 1967, have two children, Jason (Aimee) and Sara (Joe), and four grandchildren (Garrett, Hollynn, Scarlette, and Harmonie).
